Is Geostellar more accurate in some areas than others?
Yes. The accuracy of the StellarScore depends to some degree on the quality of the data we can find for that address. When it comes to parcel terrain mapping, for instance, good LiDAR data allows us to make very accurate assessments of vegetation, shading and other factors. Lower-resolution data from GeoEye or other sources is somewhat less definitive. The availability of this data changes almost daily all over the country, and our scientists are constantly updating this information and the algorithms that process it. No other firm has undertaken solar mapping at this degree of accuracy and at this scale. To understand the science of how we measure the energy potential of your roof, see our white paper “Solar Power Simulation Engine.”
