Running the same 10,500 kWh calculation at the July 2026 national benchmark rate gives $2,023 — a $471 gap between the two published averages, more for Vermont, not a bill either way.

Over the full EIA series the Vermont jurisdiction average has risen 90% since January 2001, from 12.47¢ to 23.75¢ in July 2026 — a compound 2.6% per year. The path has been unusually smooth — Vermont is among the steadiest third of jurisdictions month to month.
